I.              EXPECT THE BEST AND GET IT:

Richard Hatcher, Leader

The thief cometh not but to steal, and to kill and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

1.        When you expect the best, you release a magnetic force in your mind, which by a law of attraction tends to bring the best to you.  This does not mean that by believing you are necessarily going to get everything you want or think you want, perhaps that would not be good for you.  When you put your trust in God, He will guide your mind so that you do not want things that are not good for you.  But it does mean that when you learn to believe, that which has seemingly been impossible moves into the area of the possibility.

The heart is the symbol of creative activity.  Fire (continued on Page 2)

ONE ACCORD

FATAL FEAR FIGHTERS

CHALLENGES – Who Is Hands Up

PHILIP MORRIS, USA

Since our first meeting January 13, 2000, we have grown from nine to over 75 PM folks who come to hear and share the Word.  Hands Up has also helped many of our fellow employees through our Love Fund.  God’s hand is truly at work in this team!

In planning this issue, we wanted something our fellow sisters and brothers could use as a resource when dealing with trials and tribulations.  Our fellow employees have written numerous articles/lessons to inspire and assist us with our walk.

There is also an update on our sister organization at Park 500, called "The Light" and an account of Juanita Langley's mission trip to Brazil.  In remembering the Spirit of Giving -  check out the poem called "The Best Gifts to Give".

Many of us have been through some type of transition, trial or obstacles during these last few months.  The support and fellowship of Hands Up has been a source of strength and a way to get rejuvenated.  Always remember that God is always there to carry you through anything the enemy may put in your way.  Also, remember that we are here for each other, don't be afraid to reach out to your fellow man.  God bless you as you read this newsletter, and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!

THE ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE:

The Servant Team – Leaders:

Tom Meadows, Ruth Johnson, Richard Hatcher, Delois Maddox, Ralph Brown, Julia Candia and Jackie Hager.

2.        the heart with where you want to go and what you want to be.  Get so deeply fixed in your subconscious that you will not take no for an answer.  Then your entire personality will follow where your heart leads.  Expect the best, not the worst, and you will attain your hearts desire.

3.        You can overcome any obstacle.  You can achieve the most tremendous things by faith power; and how do you develop faith power?  Saturate your mind with the great words of the Bible.

4.        This process will change you into a believer, into an expecter, and thus you will become an achiever.  You will have a new power to get what God and you decide you really want from life.  The most powerful force in human nature is the spiritual power technique taught in the Bible.  Belief, positive thinking, faith in God, faith in people, faith in yourself, faith in life.  If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.  Mark 9:23  If yea have faith nothing shall be impossible unto you.  Matthew 17:30  According to your faith be it unto you.  Matthew 9:29.

"God speaks faith, we are cut off because we can't speak His language".

II.             HOW TO GET RID OF FEAR:

Richard Hatcher, Leader

1.        SEEK-- Perhaps the basic method for getting rid of fear is written in the 34th Psalm, where it says; I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from ALL my fears.  Note the inclusive stress- all.

2.        TRUST-- The opposite of fear is trust so practice trust. Put your trust in God and in yourself and in the fact that most of the things that you fear will never come to pass trust in God. Psalm 56:3-4. Proverbs 3:5-6.

3.        RELY-- Definitely eliminate apprehension and doubt.  Believe that you can trust efficiency and God is watching over you. Rely on God.

4.        STUDY-- Discover though study the origin of your Fears. There are reasons why you are afraid.

5.        ADD-- Frequently try the technique of adding up all of the times in your life when you have been taken care of, watched over, and protected. Follow this by the affirmation that it will always be just that way.

6.        DO-- If you are afraid to do something, and that something makes sense, do it. And your fear of it will subside.

COURAGE-- Mentally and spiritually emphasize courage. This will start the process of canceling out fear thoughts. Think courage, act  courageously, and fear will yield to courage.

7.        SEEK-- Form an image of yourself as now being free of all fear.

8.        HELP-- Do a good turn for someone else who is fearful by helping that individual to overcome his own fears. In helping him to lose his fears, the hold of your own fear will be lessened.

9.        FAITH--The second most powerful force in the world is fear. But the most powerful of all forces is faith.  Faith is stronger than fear. So, to get rid of fear, build up your faith.  Revelation 21:8

III      LOVING SERVICE: (Overcoming Betrayal)

Ronnie Waddell, Leader

How does the Christian give “Loving Service” in the workplace? In the book: Play to Win, Chapter 20, entitled Loving Service, the author gives four character traits to give loving service by Empathy,   Understanding, Acceptance and Involvement.  Yes, letting go of our own desires and helping other is one step in giving loving services. But how do you overcome the hurt received from others?

At work, I have felt the blade of many knives in my back-I’ve been betrayed. And many of the attacks have be given by my “so called” friends. Anyone can do it to you. Our co-workers, friends, families and even our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus play the game to win, they know just the right words, the right place to be and the right side to be on. Anything to be a winner!

They are superficial, only thinking about themselves. What can I get? What’s in it for me?  Nothing short of winning is good enough. Yes, we have all bled a little from someone close to us climbing the ladder. We are indeed people with character flaws.

Probably Judas was a pretty good fellow. He had a good business head on his shoulders. After all, the other disciples had elected him treasurer. But he was apparently superficial in his commitment to Christ Jesus. When it became clear that Jesus would be tracked down and killed rather than being crowned king, Judas began to make secret plans for his future. The flaws in his character began to show. He had already been taking money from the treasurer for his own purposes (John 12:4-6). He was laying aside a little nest egg for hard-times coming.

"THE LIGHT"

FROM DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

Ronnie Waddell

Park 500

On June 27, 2000, six Christians ignited the light for the first time at Park 500. And now there is nothing hidden from the Light and nothing concealed that will not be known. We currently have 22 members who have requested to be part of this ministry. Many of the members must work on a swing shift schedule resulting in their missing several meeting in a row.

As Paul instructed the Ephesians to form unity in the body; the Light Ministry is following his advice.  Ephesians 4:11-14 says, “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of services, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and became mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”.   The parts of the body at Park 500 are working with each other in the growing process to build what God has planned here.  We have a weekly prayer session and our plan is to start a Bible study before the end of the year.

We boldly and confidently speak Your Word now to claim Ephesians 5:8-9 for the Light Ministry at Park 500,  “Live as children of light and find out what pleases the Lord”.

Loving Service continued. . . .

Like many insecure people, Judas aligned himself with the powerful. For a while, he had stayed close to the power of God through Jesus, but he grew weak and started to deal and play with the enemies of Jesus. After all, Jesus was going to die any way. Why not turn a little profit? Judas had played the right games to get ahead in life, but he lost his soul.

Jesus was “troubled in spirit ” that Judas, one of His twelve would betray Him. It‘s not easy when someone you have shown kindness, empathy, acceptance and love to turns on you and becomes your enemy. The prophet said in Psalm 41:9 “Even my close friend, who I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me". Jesus knew first hand the sorrow, grief, hurt and even the anger of being betrayed.

After Judas had left to perform his despicable deed, the mood in the upper room changed. The time was growing close to the end of Jesus’ time with His friends. He said to His disciples (friends); “I love you.  I am willing to go to the cross for you. Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34-35). You must start treating your co-workers the same way God treats you.  Follow the teaching of Jesus in Luke 6:27-28,31: “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you”. Give Loving Service by doing unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

God bless.

"MISSIONS"

Brazil Missions - Juanita Langley

Back on August 4th 2000, myself along with 10 other members of my church (Lighthouse Christian Center in Mechanicsville, VA) went to Brazil on missions.  We went to a city called Joa Pessoa and we stayed at the YWAM(Youth With A Mission) base which is run by a couple named Issac and Batania.  While we were in Brazil we not only ministered to the youth at the base, but we went out to different areas and ministered to the orphanages, other churches and street missions.  One of the most challenging experiences was when we went to minister to the families that lived at this area called The Dump.  The Dump was exactly what it says it is, it is where the city dumps its trash.  People have gone to this dump and built homes to live in.  There was much raw sewage, children running around, some with a few pieces of clothing on, no shoes for their feet, and anything and everything you can imagine you saw there.  In the midst of all of that, they appeared to be joyful for what they did have.  It was truly a blessing to me to be a part of this experience.  We saw souls delivered from witchcraft which is practiced highly in Brazil.  Even at the base, where we stayed, its previous landlord practiced witchcraft and was building a resort on the base for its members.  Back in 1999 when my church first went to Brazil, they experienced the chanting of the cult.  Before they left to return to the U.S., they got the chance to pray over the base and they claimed the land from the cult. This year the landlord lost the land and Issac and Batania were able to buy it, and now it belongs to God.

There is so much that I could talk about but to sum it up in a few brief words, I would have to say it was blessed.  For those who have not had the opportunity to do missions I pray they will pray to God that He will make the opportunity and finances available for them.

HEALING

THE PROBLEMS

Diseases

Exodus 15:26

If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

Land

II Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will heal their land.

Soul

Psalms 41:4

I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Backsliders

Jeremiah 3:22

Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings.

Hosea 14:4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

Brokenhearted/Relationships

Luke 4:18

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

Psalms 147:3

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Friends

Matthew 7:3

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in

 thine own eye?

Job 42:10

And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends:  also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Distresses

Psalms 107:19/20

Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.  He sent his word, and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.

THE REMEDIES

Isaiah 53:5

But he was wounded for transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Psalms 30:2

O Lord my God, I cried unto thee and thou hast healed me.

Luke 7:7

Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee; but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

Acts 14:9

The same heard Paul speak:  who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed.

THE ACTIONS

James 5:14/16

Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.

John 14:12/13

Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works that these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son

John 9:1/3

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man, which was blind from his birth.  And his disciples asked him, saying,  Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?  Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

III John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy

soul prospereth.
