Walk With God

God’s Plan

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will be found by you, says the LORD.

Verse 11 tells us as children on God that He has a plan for us that is prosperous and hopeful. We do not know exactly what that plan is but God does and that is where trust comes into our walk.

Psalms 118:8- It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Proverbs 3:5- Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.

Psalms 37:23- The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

God’s Promise

Verses 12 through 14 tells us that once we believe verse 11 then we will seek out God and find him.

Psalms 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and shew him my salvation.

Psalms 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Psalms 121: 1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Numbers 23: 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

God’s dreams for us become our living reality when we walk with Him.

Genesis 5:24- And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Prayer Ministry

The one thing that holds this ministry and our work together is our prayer ministry headed up by Karen Page and the prayer team known as the Twelve Disciples.  Did you know that our prayer register has over 300 requests to date?  Each of the names is called out to the Lord everyday not just on Wednesday.  It is a humbling thing to call out 300 names to the Lord knowing that you need as much prayer as any of these names.  Many people will be touched by the Lord through Hands Up Ministry who otherwise might never attend church.

La Resolana Update

It was our hope to return to La Resolana in October stucco the outside and paint it for the cosmetic appearance that is needed.  However, our volunteer Missionary Clinton Hendershot is battling bone cancer and must continue chemo treatments until October.  It is our plan now that once the chemo treatments are completed and he gets a clean bill of health to plan to return in early 2012.  In addition to the church we hope to complete a playground for another church community.  Pray for Clinton and the project.

A SONG OF PRAISE

by T.E. Meadows, Sr.

Praise the Lord that I cannot see.

For without Him I would not be.

Praise the Lord of the heavenly host.

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Praise to God, for when I am weak,

I have Jesus Christ that I can seek.

Praise the Lord of undying love.

Praise the Lord in heaven above.

When I’m nervous and I seek calm,

I praise the Lord for the 23rd Psalm.

Praise the Lord, for when we sin,

He gave us Jesus to cleanse us again.

Praise the Lord for the sunshine bright.

Hopefully we will walk in your light.

Praise the Lord of infinity.

Praise the Lord our trinity.

HANDS UP MINISTRY CHRISTMAS

Since 2000 the first year of ministry HUM has adopted at least one family to provide for their Christmas needs.  Each year that commitment has grown one additional family with the ministry.  As we are completing our twelfth year of ministry we will adopt twelve families through working with Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority.  In total with these twelve families we will have provided a Christmas celebration for 28 families through Weed & Seed plus an additional 6 families through Chesterfield Christmas Mother and 3 at large families and 54 families through RR&HA.   To date 91 families have been blessed by God through Hands Up Ministry

I hope each of you will consider helping the efforts of HUM to minister to these needy families.  The children we touch today will be our leaders tomorrow.

"Put Christ first and you will never be last."

Butterflies

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.  One day a small opening appeared.  He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.  Then it seemed to stop making any progress.  It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.  He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.  The butterfly then emerged easily.  But it had a swollen body and small shriveled wings.  The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.  Neither happened!  In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings.  It never was able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives.  If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us.  We would not be as strong as what we could have been.  We could never fly!

I asked for Strength … And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for Wisdom … And God gave me Problems to solve.

I asked for Prosperity … And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.

I asked for Courage … And God gave me Danger to overcome.

I asked for Love … And God gave me Troubled people to help.

I asked for Favors……And God gave me Opportunities
