Unbelief

Webster defines unbelief as the state or quality of not believing, especially in matters of doctrine and religious faith.

Matthew 13:58 - And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Unbelief handicaps the power of God in our life and in the life of the Christian church.  Faith opens the door to miracles.

Matthew 17:20 - And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

One speck of faith is greater than any unbelief or doubt.  Have your tried moving any mountains lately?

Mark 9:23/24 - Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Is it possible to believe and yet still have unbelief?  Scripture indicates that it is possible.

John 11:40 - Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Now we know that Mary believed in the power of Jesus to have healed Lazarus had Jesus been there.  But Jesus had a higher purpose in showing the disciples, the Jews, Mary and Martha that He was the resurrection and the life.

The most powerful statement about unbelief lies in verse John 11:35 which states that Jesus wept.  The Jews assumed he wept because He loved Lazarus.  Jesus wept then just like He must weep today when we the body of Christ have unbelief.  The disciples had first hand experiences of the power of Jesus but they did not understand that Jesus delayed their journey for two days and that Lazarus would physically die. But Jesus said it was a sickness not unto death but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

How many times have we given up on Jesus and let our faith (belief) turn to doubt (unbelief) because Jesus decided to do things in His time and His way?  What we are going through isn't about us as Christians but that the Son of God be glorified in it.

There is a song that simply states:  "When God is four days late, He is still on time.  We serve an "On Time God" all the time.

Prayer Ministry

The one thing that holds this ministry and our work together is our prayer ministry headed up by Karen Page and the prayer team known as the Twelve Disciples.  Did you know that our prayer register has over 300 requests to date?  Each of the names is called out to the Lord everyday not just on Wednesday.  It is a humbling thing to call out 300 names to the Lord knowing that you need as much prayer as any of these names.  Many people will be touched by the Lord through Hands Up Ministry who otherwise might never attend church.

 MISSIONS AT WORK

INVESTMENT FOR AN ETERNITY
By
Tom Meadows

Our next project scheduled for the spring of 2010 is in Resolana, Mexico.  This a mission church being sown by the mother church of Bella Vista.  The cost for the church building is $10,000 .  We are currently working with two churches in Virginia for tri-sponsorship of the the project.  We need to raise as much financial support as we can to help pay for the building and assist team members who may lack funds.

All you can do  to help will be blessed and appreciated.  We could also use some more volunteers to go as team members which will change your life.  As of this writing Karen Page and I are the only two committed from Hands Up Ministry.  We need more.

DEATH

WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO EXPLAIN IT

by Barbara Sue

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to
Leave the examination room and said,

'Doctor, I am afraid to die.
Tell me what lies on the other side.'
Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.'
'You don't know?  You're, a Christian man,
and don't know what's on the other side?'
The doctor was holding the handle of the door;
On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining,
And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room

And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said,
'Did you notice my dog?
He's never been in this room before.
He didn't know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here,
And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death,
But I do know one thing...
I know my Master is there and that is enough.'

Other Side

TEN THINGS GOD WON'T ASK ON THAT DAY.

1... God won't ask what kind of car you drove. He'll
ask how many people you drove who didn't have
transportation.

2... God won't ask the square footage of your house.
He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

3... God won't ask about the clothes you had in your
closet. He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

4... God won't ask what your highest salary was. He'll
ask if you compromised your character to obtain! it.

5... God won't ask what your job title was. He'll ask
if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6... God won't ask how many friends you had. He'll ask
how many people to whom you were a friend.

7... God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived.
He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

8... God won't ask about the color of your skin. He'll
ask about the content of your character.

9... God won't ask why it took you so long to seek
Salvation. He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in
heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.

10... God won't have to ask how many people you
forwarded this to. He already knows your decision.

Just Nuts

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence.
One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began
dividing the nuts.

'One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me,'said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down
toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices

from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, 'One for you, one

for me. One for you, one for me.'

He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met

an old man with a cane, hobbling along.

'Come here quick,' said the boy, 'you won't believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down

at the cemetery dividing up the souls.'

The man said, 'Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk.' When the boy insisted though,
the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery.

Standing by the fence they heard, 'One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me.'

The old man whispered, 'Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord.'

Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old

man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to

get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, 'One for you, one for me. That's all.

Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done.'

They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead of the Kid on the bike.

Battlefield of the Mind

.....we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
-2 Corinthians 10:5

According to 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, the mind is the battlefield. We are in a war, but it is a spiritual war that must be fought spiritually with spiritual weapons.

Using our spiritual weapons, we refute the enemy's lies, arguments, theories, reasonings, and every other thing that tries to exalt itself against the truth of God's Word.

We must take our thoughts captive and not indulge in the fleshly luxury of receiving and meditating on every thought that falls into our heads. We must exercise ourselves to "think about what we are thinking about." This takes some discipline and practice.

The primary weapon with which we do battle is the Word of God used in various ways preached, taught, sung, confessed, meditated upon, written, and read. The Word of God has a cleansing effect on our minds and lives any way we use it.

I once had a negative, wandering, wondering mind. Now, after years of applying the Word of God and a lot of help from the Holy Spirit, I can say with confidence, "I have the mind of Christ." (1 Corinthians 2:16.)

You can win the battle in your mind every stronghold can be torn down and every deception uncovered. Don't settle for anything less than complete freedom!

Say This:
"Thank You, Lord, for Your Word that renews my mind and sets me free. I have the mind of Christ! In Jesus' name, amen."

Negative situations are not permanent, so why should we allow our minds to be permanently ruled by them?

HUMor

Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother, 'Why is the bride dressed in white?''

The mother replied, 'Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life.' The child thought about this for a moment then said, 'So why is the groom wearing black?' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord, please don't let me be late!'

While she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again! As she ran she once again began to pray, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late...But please don't shove me either!'~~~~~~~~~~~~

Three boys are in the school yard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, 'My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50.'

The second boy says, 'That's nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him $100.'

The third boy says, 'I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon, and it takes eight people to collect all the money!' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

An elderly woman died last month. Having never married, she requested no male pallbearers. In her handwritten instructions for her memorial service, she wrote, 'They wouldn't take me out while I was alive, I don't want them to take me out when I'm dead.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

A police recruit was asked during the exam, 'What would you do if you had to arrest your own mother?' He answered, 'Call for backup.'~~~~~~~~~~~~

HUMor (continued)

A Sunday School teacher asked her class why Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem. A small child replied, 'They couldn't get a baby-sitter.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to 'Honor thy father and thy mother,' she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?' Without missing a beat, one little boy answered, 'Thou shall not kill.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

At Sunday School they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and she said, 'Johnny, what is the matter?' Little Johnny responded, 'I have pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Two boys were walking home from Sunday school after hearing a strong preaching on the devil. One said to the other, 'What do you think about all this Satan stuff?'

The other boy replied, 'Well, you know how Santa Claus turned out. It's probably just your Dad.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~

You don't stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing! Take heed and pass these along to people who need a laugh. I thought you would enjoy this....times are tough right now...for all of us...so we need something to make the day a happy place.

THE LORD'S BASEBALL GAME

Freddy and the Lord stood by to observe a
baseball game.  The Lord's team was playing
           Satan's team.

The Lord's team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th
inning with two outs.  They continued to watch
as a batter stepped up to the plate named 'Love.'  Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single,
           because "Love never fails."

The next batter was named Faith, who also got
a single because Faith works with Love.

The next batter up was named Godly Wisdom. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch. Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it pass:  Ball one.  Three more pitches and Godly Wisdom walked because he never swings at what Satan throws.

The bases were now loaded.  The Lord then turned to Freddy and told him He was now going to bring in His star player.  Up to the plate stepped Grace.  Freddy said, "He sure doesn't look like much!"

Satan's whole team relaxed when they saw Grace.  Thinking he had won the game, Satan wound up and fired his first pitch.  To the shock of everyone, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen!  But Satan was not worried; his center
fielder let very few get by.

He went up for the ball, but it went right through
his glove, hit him on the head and sent him
          crashing on the ground;
the roaring crowds went wild as the ball
continued over the fence . . . for a home run!

          The Lord's team won!

The Lord then asked Freddy if he knew why
Love, Faith and Godly Wisdom could get on
base but couldn't win the game.  Freddy
answered that he didn't know why.

The Lord explained, "If your love, faith and
wisdom had won the game, you would think
you had done it by yourself.  Love, Faith and
Wisdom will get you on base but only My
Grace can get you Home: 'For by Grace you are
saved, it is a gift of God; not of works, lest
           any man should boast."

Psalm 84:11, "For the Lord God is a sun and
           shield; the Lord will give grace and glory;
no good thing will He withhold from those
           who walk uprightly."

Jesus' Test: This is an easy test; you score 100 or zero.
It's your choice.  If you aren't ashamed to do this,
please follow the directions.  Jesus said, "If you
are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you
           before my Father."

Not ashamed!!  Share this with some one, if you mean it.
I do Love God. He is my source of
existence and Savior.  He keeps me functioning
each and every day.  Without Him, I am nothing,
            but with him:

"I can do all things through Christ
            who strengthens me."
             Phil 4:13
